The conundrum may be moot, considering the dire straits we Americans find ourselves. I have always imagined that I would have to keep working about as much as I ever had once I reached 'retirement age' and that the federal retirement age would get raised to at least 70.
It will get interesting when Boomers — still the largest demographic — start living longer because of medicinal breakthroughs, but living poorer because of financial drain.
That is unless they work.
I think the whole concept of retirement is going to become quite quaint and the fight to be a greeter at Walmart a bit more savage.
