Flu flew, thankie

   More of a personal note here to those fans of my daughter out there: She is fine; better that her 'old' self, as it were.
   Her bout with H1N1 was overcome after a few days of treatment and, thanks to a new pediatrician, has been cleared for takeoff and inoculated with the anti-virus to squelch any further occurrence.
   It's still very disconcerting to know that the government totally dropped the ball on this one. I mean we were hearing about H1N1 since the World Health Organization declared in April a "public health emergency of international concern" after the first global cases of the virus were reported in the United States.
   Could it be any more urgent? Are we that slow to react {vulnerable to outbreak} as it appears?
  I think the H1N1 experience could be one of the factors quietly undercutting support for government-run health care: It's a beautiful concept, but probably not too effective for the money.

  One Delaware pediatrician, Dr. David Epstein, said patients were "banging on the door" for swine flu vaccine, and at some moments he felt like a United Nations relief worker in a refugee camp.
   "Everybody is desperate for it," said Epstein, who ordered 2,300 doses but had received only 300 as of last week.
