The theme music for the series is a bogus rendition of Jimi Hendrix's iconic "Star Spangled Banner" interpretation at Woodstock.
The irony is that Hendrix's interpreted passion of the anthem enraged the Greatest Generation at the time (my dad was mortified) and enthralled the Boomers (known then as 'Nam vets, hippies, losers and/or punks).
Now, a CNN producer with the mentality of a 30-something is actually insulting an entire generation (and the largest market segment) with this knockoff of Jimi's — no Boomer in his right mind is snuggling up to this B.S.
The network either needs to gain the rights to use Hendrix's piece for the news series [not likely, maybe not even possible] or use a different piece of music.
Hey, Charlie Sheen is out of a job, why not give him a reality shot at writing a jingle for I Am America?
It would give the network yet another pointless "story behind the news" of how promo music is laid down; Charlie Sheen is a sure ratings booster; and it would not send an entire generation into collective cringe mode.
Speaking of cringeworthy, it does appear that CBS is trying to kill off The Young & the Restless. At the moment there isn't a single storyline that could hold anyone's interest and since the introduction of yet more repulsive stereotypes of Italian-Americans the show has fallen into the realm of "unwatchable." I have (recorded and) followed the show for years and it has never, ever been this pointless or adrift.
