... and it's not the first time (nor, unfortunately likely to be the last) but an
earlier post predicted pump prices to be $5 by the Fourth of July and it appears that the asking price for a gallon of gas will be $3.
On the face of it, that sounds pretty good, but, as in all economic news, the fact that the price of gas is cratering is because the global economy is cratering. Since demand for cheap crap from Asia is down since no one can afford to buy anything but essentials (or is simply not buying anything
extra), Asia has slowed down and Europe ... oh, my ... is being described as "a train wreck in slow motion."
But $3 a gallon does make you want to fill the tank.
While on the subject of driving, one thing the mother of my child and I can agree on is that tests should be given to those past the age of 75 to see whether they are able to drive during rush hours. If the hopeful vehicle-handler cannot drive at least the speed limit with certain ability, then they should be given a driver's permit to drive between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. I'd offer the folks the chance to also motor between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., but I'm sure they would be asleep by then.
The rest of the week is going to be a tough one, summed up aptly by The Firesign Theatre troupe's observation, "How can you be two places at once when you're not anywhere at all."
