What's 'wuss' in Chinese?

   I'll ring in the New Year with a bit of old news that dovetails with my grasp of the future.
   Following last weekend's East Coast blizzard, the National Football League and the City of Philadelphia postponed a scheduled Eagles-Vikings game because of the nasty weather.
   So Philly hosted the first Tuesday night game in 64 years (and lost) and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell called them all "wusses" for not playing on the scheduled night.
   "It goes against everything that football is all about," Rendell said Monday on a Philadelphia radio station. "This is football! Good lord, Vince Lombardi would be spinning in his grave that we canceled the football game for the snow.
   "My biggest beef is that this is part of what's happened in this country. We've become a nation of wusses. The Chinese are kicking our butt in everything," assessed the governor. "If this was in China do you think the Chinese would have called off the game?"
    But what struck me odd about the whole thing is because it was the second game played on a Tuesday. What about the first one? Well apparently they were wusses in '46 as well: it had rained. I wonder how those hardened WWII returnees reacted? Likely with harsher words than 'wuss'.

   I imagine the Chinese are dissecting Rendell's rant and already scrambling to assemble teams for a sport they have yet to witness.
   According to a new Symantec study, China had 131 million Internet users as of the end of 2006, accounting for about 10 percent of its population and 11 percent of the world's Internet users, so they should be fully aware of Rendell's remarks.
   Symantec is the largest maker of security software for computers {including Norton} so I imagine they keep a close eye on what's going on in China.
   The rest of us should as well.
   We don't want to end up as "wusses" in this game.
