Incredible to me the absurdity of this ad.
It is such a baldfaced attempt at lily-livered 20-something girlie angst that I cannot believe somebody actually got it past the initial premise and got a green light to spend (probably) hundreds of thousands of dollars for this weak, cheesy pitch of the dreams of a sniveling wallflower.
Madison Avenue, Wall Street and Pennsylvania Avenue just continue to reveal new layers of disconnect and disrespect for the average American and this dumb-ass ad is yet another prime example.
From from what I understand, AT&T has one of the crappiest (if not the crappiest) wireless products on the market so they have to resort to such fantasy in order to keep their brand alive.
But what crap: having 'loading two seconds faster' will make the difference between you, darkly lit, sitting in an audience or being the one dancing on the stage, worshiped by all who can see you, throwing bouquets and kisses your way because you used AT&T service.
They tried pulling a similar scenario introducing us to the future "57th President of the United States," featuring some moron in a train station who spots a babe on another track, changes his ticket instantly using his AT&T wireless service which (we are led to believe) puts him into position of providing the sperm for the future leader of the free world.
You know, when you see campaigns like this you just gotta know that the product sucks.
It's like the bombardment of advertising that precedes a big budget movie: the more pre-release ads you see, the bigger the stinker that's due to waft through theaters.
